Introduction

It all started with a call. Nepal Super League (NSL), Nepal's premier franchise-based football league, reached out to SensAI with an urgent request. They needed technical support for their player auction an event that would shape the upcoming season. The challenge? We had just one week to make it happen. For SensAI, this was an opportunity. We were already building NSL's website, and this request was a testament to the trust they had in our team. We knew the auction had to be more than just numbers on a screen—it had to engage fans, ensure transparency, and run flawlessly in real-time. There was no room for error. And so, our journey began.

Key Challenges

01

Short Preparation Window:

Just one week to prepare, build, and execute.

02

WebSockets and Live Updates:

Player images and auction screen designs had mismatched resolutions, affecting the display quality.

03

Image Resolution Issues:

Player images and auction screen designs had mismatched resolutions, affecting the display quality.

04

Auction Process Complexity:

Each team had a fixed budget for Category A & B players. Teams could go into negative balance, requiring penalty payments. A late-stage rule allowed teams to select foreign players if they ran out of domestic picks. SensAI had to adapt in real-time as some of these rules were communicated late.

05

Design Approval Delays:

Vichitra’s team had to approve all visual elements, causing last-minute updates and adjustments

06

The Final Night Challenge:

The night before the auction, multiple issues emerged while setting up the auction screen. The SensAI team worked until 1 AM debugging and refining the system

Key Objectives

Real-Time Auction Updates:

Optimized WebSockets and Express.js to ensure instant bid reflections.Backend refinements for faster data transmission and reduced latency.

High-Performance Image Delivery:

Integrated Amazon CloudFront CDN for quick image loads and cache optimization. Adjusted image resolutions to match the auction display settings.

Advanced Technology Stack:

Frontend: Next.js , Backend: Express.js , Database: MongoDB ,Image Caching: Amazon CloudFront, Deployment: Locally run system

Crisis Management and Execution:

Worked overnight to fix last-minute display errors.

Crisis Management:

Worked through the night, fixing the last-minute display glitches.Arrived at the venue at 8 AM—just two hours before the auction—to ensure everything was in pace.
